"We believe, and we have seen, that the brain can actually heal itself on instruction."
- Collette Streicher, Founder of the MAP Method
As a MAP Practitioner I spend a lot of time talking to the Superconscious during client sessions. Why? Because it is your Superconscious that is doing the healing, not the practitioner. The practitioner serves as a guide, a coach or facilitator.
My clients sometimes have questions about who or what I am talking to during our sessions. It's a fair question.
In MAP training I was taught to think of the Superconscious as another name for the subconscious mind. But, having read more widely and after doing more than 1,800 MAP sessions as a practitioner, I have a better felt sense of it.
I see the subconscious level of mind as being connected to a higher level of mind, which you could call spirit, higher self, or the Superconscious. And that is connected to a universal consciousness, a level of intelligence that connects all things.
That is to say, your subconscious mind does not exist independently of mine, or of any living thing, because we are all one. That may sound mystical, but it is really simple physics--quantum physics, not Newtonian physics. It's where physics meets the spiritual realm.
Consider the ecosystem that connects the internet to our devices. Your phone or computer is a discrete entity, but it connects to a network in your home, and also to a wider network which we call the worldwide web, or the internet, from which it draws information. Similarly, humans and all living things are connected and share information, though not in a way we that can be easily seen.
This is the principle of Oneness, which has been described in every religion and every ancient culture. It is precisely this phenomenon that allows a MAP Practitioner to tune into the subconscious mind of a client thousands of miles away over Zoom videoconference.
If you are interested in learning more, please listen to my conversation with Dr. Alia Paquette in episode 68 of the Flourish Podcast: Understanding the MAP Method where she asks questions about the practitioner's experience in a MAP session, and what I understand about how MAP works.
I mention a few resources for further study in the course of our discussion. Here is that list, plus one more book that I read recently and recommend:
Now, please understand that you do not have to understand what the Superconscious is, or the science behind it. You do not have to believe in anything to benefit from MAP Method sessions. I have plenty of clients that have not done any research or had any questions about this and it has not limited their capacity to achieve positive results with sessions.
With the MAP Method, it is perfectly fine to be skeptical, as long as you are open to the process. It's a beautifully simple way to address any kind of behavior pattern, emotional pattern or physical pattern (including symptoms or sensitivities) that is no longer serving you.
Madeleine specializes in neural retraining for chronic conditions. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, she worked with many clients who were interested in eliminating allergies, sensitivities and intolerances. After learning a basic method and seeing its limitations, she trained in an advanced method of retraining the brain and now offers MAP sessions over Zoom and online self-paced programs for Anxiety/Depression, Sensitivities, Chronic Pain, Self-Healing, and COVID Long.
